The Music ministry consists of 4 cantors, 2 organists, a 20-member adult choir, an 8-member junior choir and 25-member children choir.
Of all the singing groups at St. Theresa’s, the Adult Choir rehearses and performs the most. The Adult Choir starts in late August and continues to late June. In addition to singing the 10:30AM music several times each month, the Adult Choir is called upon to sing special Masses, such as First Communions and Confirmations; sings for several of the extended services relating to high holy days.
Children’s and Junior Choir
Children’s and junior choirs possess a distinctive ministry. The mission of choirs is twofold. First, their mission is to lead the congregation in its expression of faith through music. Second, their mission is to encourage active participation in all parts of the mass by children and adolescents, to provide a nurturing environment for children and adolescents to learn to act as a community of faith, and to provide families a role for their children and a means of making mass accessible to their children. Our Children’s and Junior Choirs not only assist in the ministry of music for the Mass, but also seek to enrich the lives of youth through music activities, and to promote their sense of self-esteem, accomplishment, and pride in themselves and their role in the church.
The Children’s and Junior Choirs also sing at the 10:30AM Sunday Masses.
