Our Giving Tree Ministry program provides assistance at Christmas to those most in need in our community, especially families with children.
We have 95 children within 33 families signed up for aid, with additional families likely. The financial need of each family is confirmed. We have single mothers and sometimes grandparents raising children among these families. Included in the 95 children, are children with specific medical problems, children with autism, and several with special needs. Sixteen children are aged 3 and under. We try to provide each child with some requested new clothes and a few toys.
In the past we have had our tags on the trees in the churches. However, due to the Coronavirus, we can only accept monetary donations this year. We have a few buyers who will purchase gifts for the children. This is with the knowledge of the Billerica Board of Health so that contact tracing will be possible, if needed.
We need all who are able to donate to be as generous as possible since many of our previous years donors may not be financially able to donate this year. Monetary donations should be made out to St. Matthew the Evangelist with Giving Tree on the memo line. All donors will be sent a confirmation letter in December. You can also CLICK HERE to donate online. A special category has been set up in each (former) Parish for this year’s Giving Tree.
We thank you in advance for your generosity in whatever you can give!
