We have added the Stations of the Cross at St. Theresa Church as we continue to honor the legacy of St. Mary Church of Saint Matthew Parish. These recently installed precious works of art and furniture have particular significance to the people of St. Mary.
The statue of the Risen Christ has been hung on a wall in St. Theresa. Light as well as candles and a gold background has been added to display this work of art.
An important piece of the history and legacy of St Mary’s, and of St. Teresa of Calcutta’s visit there ~ the pew ~ was installed at the rear of St. Theresa Church. An icon of St. Teresa of Calcutta as well as the plaque commemorating her visit and a picture of her visit was also hung.
From the Catechism 2502, “Sacred art is true and beautiful when its form corresponds to its particular vocation: evoking and glorifying, in faith and adoration, the transcendent mystery of God—the surpassing invisible beauty of truth and love visible in Christ, who “reflects the glory of God and bears the very stamp of his nature,” in whom “the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily. … Genuine sacred art draws man to adoration, to prayer, and to the love of God, Creator and Savior, the Holy One and Sanctifier.
