Recently, we have reorganized and promoted from within the Faith Formation staff to minister to and form our youth. For budgetary reasons, and upon the advice of our Finance Council I have chosen not to hire a new Director of Faith Formation (Tony Carbrello, the Director of Faith Formation left St. Matthew in September. We wish Tony well in all his future endeavors) at this time, but to reorganize the leadership structure to have three coordinators as before with one taking on additional leadership roles. Father Aveni will being taking on a greater role as well in our Faith Formation Program. Therefore Father is happy to announce the following appointments:

  • Deb Fergus who has been serving as the Coordinator for grades 3-8, has generously agreed to assume the additional responsibility of leadership among our three coordinators. I look forward to working with Deb and our other two coordinators in the area of Faith Formation.
  • I am also pleased to welcome Alanna Fava to our Faith Formation team as the Coordinator of our Teen Ministries and Confirmation Formation. Alanna has worked closely with Tony and Dustin in our program in a volunteer capacity. Alanna brings a wealth of experience to our parish, having served in youth ministry and formation at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden and the Catholic collaborative of Saint Margaret and Blessed Sacrament in Saugus.
  • Finally I am excited to welcome Heather Murphy back to our staff, after a few months away from us. Many of us have known Heather as a member of our Office Administration team for the past five years. As she returns I have asked Heather to assume a greater focus on coordinating our pastoral ministries, particularly in the areas of funerals, marriage, and ministry to our sick and homebound.
